have a bite

yesterday i discovered this bombalicious website, reality sandwich. it’s basically a site about all that i hold near and dear: religion, psychology, politics, pop culture, real culture, art, sex, drugs… it’s the kind of website i’d run if i had any creativity within me at all (so i have this little blog instead). instead it’s run by daniel pinchbeck, described at his wikipedia entry as an “author and advocate of the use of psychedelic substances such as LSD, Psilocybin mushrooms and peyote for enriching people’s intellectual, psychological and spiritual beliefs through the psychedelic experience.” okay then. his “breaking open the head: a psychedelic journey into the heart of contemporary shamanism” was actually an excellent read touching on his experiences with various entheogens and the effects this was having on other areas of his life. however, i tried to read “2012: the return of quetzalcoatl”, and i just couldn’t get into it. of course it also turned me off when i read there of his belief that because of his date of birth (6/6/66), he has some spiritual insight that most people don’t have. c’mon. i believe there is some meaning to numerology and even to 666, but that date of birth thing seems almost juvenile (at least on the surface). and i’m not denying that the man definitely has some valuable spiritual insights that i’m really glad he’s sharing with the world. but the 666 thing, well, maybe i should just get over it and try sometime in the next four years to read 2012 again… anyway, i’m digressing. reality sandwich is his blog and it’s awesome. go there and have a bite or two. 🙂 (yeah, that’s dorky.)
